Antara News Agency eyes IDR20 billion profit

JAKARTA: Antara National News Agency (Perum LKBN Antara) eyes year-end profit of IDR20 billion, a 50.72% increase from IDR13.27 billion last year.Antara President Director Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf said the profit target is in line with the companys projected revenue of IDR120 billion by the end of this year."Our profit as per third quarter of 2010 has reached IDR12 billion. We expect to grab IDR18 billion at minimum in the end of the year or IDR20 billion at maximum. We are also expecting our revenue to reach IDR120 billion. It was already IDR80 billion as per third quarter of 2010," he said after attending the company's 73rd anniversary today.According to Mukhlis, 60% of the corporate revenue was derived from commercial business and 40% from partnership with Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the form of public service obligation (PSO) revenue.Then 60% of the commercial revenue consists of partnership with foreign news agencies [35%] and the companys own business [25%]. The rest [40%] is from PSO revenue, he added.Currently, ANTARA has partnership with 43 foreign news agencies, among which are Reuters, Bloomberg and AFP. The news agency serves more than 250 media companies, including newspapers, televisions, radios, news portals, yahoo Indonesia and others.ANTARA also owns several representative bureaus in Cairo, Malaysia and Beijing.
