Aquaculture gets IDR200 billion allocation

JAKARTA: Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KemenKP) targets an allocation of direct public fund (BLM) for aquaculture to break IDR200 billion in 2011.Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fadel Muhammad confirmed that the increase in BLM is in line with the ministry's target to enhance aquaculture products by 353%.In the next year, he stated, the fund allocated for aquaculture will reach IDR200 billion, then IDR100 billion for fishing, IDR76 billion for salt farmers, and IDR20.4 billion for fish processing. Furthermore, as Fadel continued, the total fund for next year may reach IDR396.4 billion.BLM is a fund allocated to society or non-governmental institutions to boost revenue as well as to create more jobs for marine and fishery society.Meanwhile, in 2011 KemenKP also plans to distribute 408 fish processing facilities to 408 processing and fishery marketing groups. Director General of Processing and Marketing for Fishery Products Martini Huseini informed that the 408 packages are worth IDR20.4 billion. The packages will be distributed through BLM, he said.
