JCI plunges 2.37% to 3,571.74 led by Astra International

JAKARTA: Indonesian stocks today plunged 86.58 points or 2.37% to close at 3,571.74 after hours of trading, hit by massive sell-off on bluechio stocks by foreign investors.Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) recorded its move within the range of 3,554.85-3,657.47. Of 420 stocks listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange, 42 rose, 199 fell and 179 unchanged.Astra International led the drops in the index by sliding 14.01 points, followed by Bank Rakyat Indonesia with 6.56 points, Unilever Indonesia with 6.38 points, and Bank Mandiri with 4.96 points.In the meantime, several stocks restraining the index from plunging deeper included Bank Sinarmas, which climbed 0.82 points, followed by Bayan Resources with 0.80 points, Bank Mega with 0.56 points, and Indofood CBP Sukses with 0.52 points.All nine groups in Indonesia Stock Exchange showed negative contribution to the index. Finance sector led the declines by contributing 29.97%, followed by miscellaneous with 17.15%, consumer goods with 15.10% and mining with 11.62%.As JCI decreased, BISNIS 27 Index this afternoon also slid 9.64 points or 2.99% to 312.60 from yesterdays closing. BISNIS 27 Index moved within the range of 311.28-322.11. (t04/wiw)
