JAKARTA: PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, the state telecommunication company, will manage each aspect in careful and professional manner, including human resources issue, supposed the merger between Flexi and Esia takes place. Telkoms VP Public and Marketing Communication Eddy Kurnia said that the company sees no problem in handling human resources issue. Telkom currently hires more than 20,000 workers. We have offered early pension program in which the applicants were beyond facility offered. Last year, 2,500 staffs applied for early pension program and 1,000 staffs got such facility, he said today. The human resources issue sparked following the merger plan between Flexi and Esia.Since the merger plan was unveiled last September, Telkoms Employee Association (Sekar) went on strike, opposing such corporate action as they thought it would be like selling the countrys assets.Secretary General of Sekar Asep Mulyana said that such strike represented the aspiration of Telkoms workers. This is purely the aspiration of Telkoms employees. I think that Telkom's employees are the intellectuals who are not easily influenced. The issue that Sekar got backup from other parties, including Telkoms directors, is wrong, since employees that went on strike come from many directorates, said Asep.Asep stated that Sekar has already had its own assessment that the corporate action will soon be realized, thus it stands up against the plan.Yes, it is true that our management said that the company is still reviewing the action plan, yet, we acknowledge that the merger will soon be realized, said Asep.Eddy Kurnia explained this merger will not take place this year as it needs a long and comprehensive review and process.
