State plantation excluded from privatization

JAKARTA: State-owned plantation companies will not be included in 2011 privatization program for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).Deputy Minister of SOEs for Primary Industry Megananda Daryono said that the internal offcial meeting of Ministry of SOEs decided not to include state plantation companies of primary industry in the privatization program.I can not speak for others. yet, from the division I handle, no company is proposed for an initial public offering [IPO] in 2011, including those of plantation sector," he said last night.The state plantation companies, he added, will be directed to reset the plan of forming a holding company which was once delayed. Forestry holdings are targeted to be realized by next year as they are now internally discussed.Megananda informed plantation holdings just need approval from Minister of Finance.He confirmed PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) I XIV and PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI) will be managed under one holding company while PT Inhutani I-V and Perum Perhutani will be handled under one holding company.According to data compiled by Bisnis, there are three state-owned plantation companies to go public, namely PTPN III, PTPN IV, and PTPN VII.State enterprises included in primary industry are PT Antam Tbk, PT Timah Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, Perum Bulog, PT Pupuk Sriwijaya (Pusri), PT Sucofindo, PT ABF, Perum Jasa Tirta I dan II, PT Pertani, Perum Perikanan Samudra, PT Perikanan Nusantara, PT Berdikari, PT Sarana Karya, and PT Freeport Indonesia.
