JAKARTA: Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture Suswono said that the extreme weather not only hit the rice crops but also horticulture and secondary crops, thus pushing the national inflation rate."Some products like horticulture and secondary crops are damaged. Like what happens to chillies and onion," he said at presidential palace.Hence, he continued, the government will anticipate the condition by raising plants on sedinet or deeper irrigation to avoid immersion. The mechanism can be applied to chillies and onion which are sensitive to soil humidity level.Besides, Suswono said that the ministry sets up coordination with Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to get certain accuracy on the climate changes across the country.
