JAKARTA: The enforcement of ASEAN China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) deemed to affect the performance of modern retail markets throughout 2010.

Indonesian Retail Association (Aprindo) said retail markets in 2010 have products distinction when compared to the previous year due to big amount of China's products to the markets which pushed by ACFTA. "Lot of China's products are flooding the market particularly electronic, fashion and food. They gave serious influence to this year' performance," said Aprindo Secretary General Rudi Sumampouw to Bisnis, today. The entry of Lotte, Korea's giant retail company, to hypermart and wholesale market is not considered to have significant influence since they do not change their acquired' business concept. At the moment, modern retail markets are still counting on the year-end spending to boost their sales and store performance. (t05/wiw)
