Astra International leads the drop in JCI

JAKARTA: Indonesian stocks extended the decline by sliding 83.66 points or 2.40% to 3,403.95 from the closing level last Friday at 3,487.61.Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) moved within a range of 3,383.16 3,487.14.Of 422 shares sustaining the index, 15 shares rose, 192 fell and the remaining were stagnant.PT Astra International led the decline with a negative contribution of 10.52 points, followed by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (-5.96 points), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (-5.77 points), and PT Bank Central Asia (-5.77 points).Several shares successfully retained the index from falling further with a positive contribution including PT Unilever Indonesia with 2.70 points, PT Bayan Resources with 1.97 points, PT Bank CIMB Niaga with 0.88 point, dan PT XL Axiata with 0.50 point.All of the nine industries in Indonesian Stock Exchanges showed a negative movement, led by financial sector with -23.23%, then mining with -19.07%, miscellaneous industry with -13.57%, infrastructure, utility and transportation with -13.37%, basic industry and chemical with -8.22%, trade and service with -7.33%, consumer goods with -6.10%, property, construction and real estate with -3.67%, and agricultural sector with -2.94%.BISNIS-27 Index also experienced a drop of 2.97% or 8.95 points from the last weeks position to 292.07. Before the index was closed for mid-day break session, it moved between 289.76 and 300.94.(T03/NOM)
