Mandiri drives JCI 1.91 points higher

JAKARTA: PT Bank Mandiri and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia led Indonesian shares 1.91 points higher from yesterdays closing level at 3,409.17 to 3,411.08 at the opening session.The index swung within the range of 3,411.08 and 3,446.13.Of 422 stocks sustaining the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI), 62 stocks surged, seven stocks slumped and the remaining 353 stocks were unchanged.The positive contribution came from Bank Mandiri as it rose by 2.46 points, tailed by Bank Rakyat Indonesia with 2.16 points, PT Astra International with 2.15 points and PT Adaro Energy with 1.89 points.Several stocks eroding the index's gain were PT Perusahaan Gas Negara that slumped by 2.15 points, PT XL Axiata with minus 0.50 point, PT Unilever Indonesia with minus 0.45 point and PT Gudang Garam with minus 0.23 point.All nine sectors listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) performed positively, driven mainly by mining sector (26.43%), miscellaneous industry (16.53%), financial sector (15.41%), consumer goods (13.15%), chemical based industry (10.68%), trade and service (5.68%), agriculture industry (4.02%), utility, infrastructure and transportation (3.27%) and property, construction and real estate (1.49%).BISNIS-27 Index also recorded similar movement as it soared by 0.29 point from yesterdays closing at 292.05 to 292.34.
