JAKARTA: PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) postpones the official launch of IPTV service to the next 2 months due to network issues since January 2011. Telkoms Business Performance Researcher Henri Setiawan stated the service initially targeted to launch on May 1, 2011.The fixed wireline issues are unavoidable and the problems will be greater when the distance is further. We need to reschedule the launching to the next couple of month. We are trying to address the problems, he said during Broadband Asia Forum 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.According to one familiar with the matter, the fixed wireline delivery experiences bandwidth deficiency after passing a distance of 6 km from the data center that leads to less optimal service. The constraints can be overcome with several options, including efficiency and increase bandwidth capacity to meet the consumer needs. The first option is by replacing network system to wireless that also can be used to deliver 4G WiFi and to accommodate 3G mobile. The other option is by using fixed wireline, but with networks that built using fiber optic, although the cost tends to be more expensive.
