Jakarta stocks reverse decline to a 0.21% gain

JAKARTA: Jakarta Composite Index (JCI), which measures the overall performance of Indonesian shares, was trade up 0.21% or 8.02 points to 3,822.84 at the midday trading break, reversing the decline this morning.The JCI was moving in the range of 3,790.90-3,830.33. About one share rose for every one share that fell and more than a half of the shares traded in JCI today were unchanged.The increase in JCI was led by PT Bank Mandiri Tbk which contributed 2.72 points to the index, PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk 2.45 points, PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk 1.86 points, and PT Astra Internatioanl Tbk 1.43 points.Shares that hampered the movement of JCI were PT Bank Central Asia Tbk with minus 4.31 points, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk minus 2.36 poinst, PT XL Axiata Tbk minus 1 point, and PT International Nickel Indonesia Tbk minus 0.59 point.BISNIS-27 Index slightly gained 0.01% or 0.05 point to 331.004. The index of 27 stocks and launched by business daily newspaper dubbed Bisnis Indonesia was moving within range 327.86-331.81.In the meantime, the regional markets moved in green zone. Nikkei-225 increased 0.01% to 9,562.69, Hang Seng gained 0.99% to 23,127.89, Shanghai SE decreased 0.10% to 2,733.92, Kospi climbed 0.50% to 2,102.56, and MSCI Asia Pacific Index rose 0.97% to 899.85.Shanghai SE Composite Index slipped after profit growth slowed among industrial companies. The deepening concern of intensified inflation will accelerate this month also dragging the Index down.The rupiah rose 0.17% against the US dollar at IDR8,567.(NOM)
