JCI gains 0.05% to 3,834.24 led by Bank Mandiri

JAKARTA: Indonesia's stock benchmark dubbed Jakarta Composite Index (JCI), measuring the overall performance of stock prices, slightly increased 0.05% or 1.86 points to 3,834.24 as of 09.36 a.m. local time, led by Bank Mandiri.Although it slightly decreased 0.02% or 0.95 point at the opening session and brought JCI to 3,831.43, the Index shifted to a green zone at the early trading.The JCI was moving in the range of 3,830.01-3,836.87. About two shares rose for every one share that fell and more than a half of the shares traded in JCI today were unchanged.The increase in JCI was led by Bank Mandiri Tbk which contributed 1.36 points to the index, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk with 1.03 points, PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk with 0.90 points, and PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk with 0.65 points.Shares that hampered the JCI rally were PT Astra International Tbk with -0.95 points, PT Bank Tabungan Negara Tbk with -0.10 points, and PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk with -0.10 points.Meanwhile, Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.31% to 12,441.58 and Nasdaq Composite Index gained 0.50% to 2,796.86.The regional markets posted mixed movement. Nikkei decreased 0.05% to 9,517.39, Hang Seng advanced 0.27% to 23,180.59, Shanghai SE increased 0.04% to 2,710.66, Kospi declined 0.39% to 2,091.84, and Straits Times increased 0.47% to 3,150.15.The MSCI Asia Pacific Index inched-up 0.18% to 900.74.The rupiah traded increased 0.12% against the US dollar at IDR8,555.
