Indonesian shares ready to revisit 4,000 after gaining 0.42%

JAKARTA: Indonesian shares gained for the second straight day this afternoon, in line with advances in regional markets.Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) was closed up 0.42% or 16.79 points to 3,997.64. JCI moved within range of 3,979.87-3,997.95. About one share gained for every share that fell, whilst more than a half of the shares remained unchanged.The increasing JCI was also contributed by foreign net buy which reached IDR39.79 billion.Stocks of finance and miscellaneous industries gained the most today.The gain in JCI was led by PT Bank Mandiri Tbk which contributed 4.05 points to the index, PT Astra International Tbk 3.55 points, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk 1.54 points and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk 1.43 points.Shares that hampered the movement of JCI were PT Gudang Garam Tbk with minus 1.35 points, PT Bumi Resources Tbk minus 1.21 points, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk minus 1.18 points and PT Bayan Resources Tbk minus 0.97 point.BISNIS-27 Index rose 0.55% or 1.90 points to 348.42. The index of 27 stocks launched by business daily newspaper dubbed Bisnis Indonesia moved within range of 346.01-348.49.Meanwhile, Euro Stoxx 50 PR decreased 0.24% to 2,708.49 and FTSE 100 Index declined 0.50% to 5,876.82.From regional market, Nikkei decreased 0.27% to 9,936.20, Hang Seng increased 0.06% to 21,940.20, Shanghai SE rose 0.54% to 2,810.44, Kospi gained 0.02% to 2,130.07 and Straits Times increased 0.10% to 3,091.45.The MSCI Asia Pacific Index inched-up 0.08% to 865.72.The rupiah rose 0.16% against the US dollar to IDR8,535.
